Implement Thought Leaders - Strategic Agility
Strategic Agility - Organising for Permanent Turbulence
On Friday 7 May 2010, Implement Consulting Group had invited one of the world’s leading management thinkers, Professor of Strategic and International Management at London Business School Donald Sull.
The theme of the afternoon, which took place at DR Koncerthuset, was strategic agility – the ability to think strategy, organise and manage in order to consistently be able to utilise changes in the market more optimally than the competitors. We believe that this will become a key issue which will be relevant for the majority of organisations for a long time to come.
Donald Sull, who, according to the Financial Times and Fortune, is one of ten new management gurus whom you ought to meet, spoke very relevantly about how changes are a part of everyday life and about the increasing complexity of these changes. Donald Sull is the author of a large number of articles published in the Harvard Business Review and, not least, the book ”The Upside of Turbulence”, published in October 2009.
The more specific subjects which Donald Sull touched on during the afternoon were e.g.:
- What characterises the companies that win in turbulence?
- Why are some organisations constantly capable of taking advantage of opportunities that others miss?
- What drives agility in an organisation – and what are the toxics?
- How should we manage differently when change is permanent?
- How do you build or rebuild agility into an organisation?
